How to read the distances and scale

Real distances from Earth change with both orbits. For planets, the teaching range is the difference and sum of their mean Sun distance and Earth’s 149.6 million km. It assumes circular, coplanar orbits; it is not the true closest/farthest approach or a current measurement.

Body sizes and orbit spacing are enlarged or compressed so you can see and select them. Orbital motion and starting positions are illustrative. The Moon circles Earth in the scene, with an exaggerated separation. Colors and surface patterns are stylized.

Source data: the linked NASA body pages, NASA planetary fact sheet and JPL mean lunar distance. Checked 25 October 2026. This web demo uses Three.js; the original portfolio project used Apple ARKit.

Opening the demo…

A stylized browser simulation, not AR or a live sky map. Sizes, spacing and motion are compressed. Earth-distance ranges use a simplified circular-orbit model. This is a new public demo inspired by the portfolio, not the original client system.
